Anna Ray, MFA

Born in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Anna has always been enamored by the art of storytelling.  Growing up she spent time studying oral storytelling from local professionals at African American cultural festivals. With over a decade of experience in the media industry, Anna got her start as an on-air radio talent, producing mid-day radio shows.

That passion for media continued through her undergraduate studies, where she served as the content editor for her annual student publication, winning awards from the North Carolina College Media Association for her written works.

Post-graduation she moved to Spain, where she was a North American Culture and Language educator in both public schools, and private language academies.  During her time there, she produced two short films, before returning the North Carolina to further her education in Creative Film Producing.

Building on dual Bachelor degrees in Journalism and Spanish from East Carolina University, she returned to North Carolina  to study filmmaking from one of the top film schools in the country.  She now holds a Masters in Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
